To make your vaccination status more accessible, The Commons Project is partnering with Samsung to allow Samsung smartphone owners in the US to digitally download, store, and show their vaccination status using Samsung Pay.

You will need to download the CommonHealth app from the Google Play Store on your Samsung phone to get started. After signing in to the app, your health information will be verified using secure authentication methods. After verification, you’ll be able to download the COVID-19 vaccination record that you’ve received from a pharmacy, provider, or health system. You can then add it to Samsung Pay with a simple tap of a button.

In the Samsung Pay app, tap on “COVID-19 vaccine pass” to access the record. You will find a QR code to easily and securely share your proof of vaccination at locations where required. More and more concert venues, events — like next year’s CES — and stores require proof of vaccination for in-person attendance. This is a quick and simple way to have access and share any necessary details.

This new Samsung Pay feature will roll out to select phones today. Most Samsung smartphone owners will be able to set it up by the end of the week. Keep in mind that with official “vaccine pass” requirements not set in stone, venues and organizers might have their own systems in place. So make sure they will accept the Samsung Pay vaccination record before showing up at an event.
