The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is the most impressive Xiaomi flagship ever produced in terms of sheer specifications, and it’s got a premium price tag that pits it against the OnePlus 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
What if you don’t want to pay that much cash for the smartphone? Well, you could try being an Indian medal winner at the Tokyo Olympics. Yes, Xiaomi India’s Manu Kumar Jain has now announced that its 2020 Olympic medalists will receive the phone.
Jain does however note that Xiaomi will be giving the Mi 11X to the men’s hockey team. The Mi 11X is a rebranded Redmi K40/Poco F3, featuring a Snapdragon 870, 120Hz FHD+ OLED screen, 48MP+8MP+5MP rear camera system, and a 4,520mAh battery with 33W charging.
Meanwhile, the Mi 11 Ultra ups the ante with a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 120Hz QHD+ OLED panel, a 50MP+48MP+48MP rear camera setup with a tiny screen for selfies, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired and wireless charging. This is also the first Xiaomi phone with an IP68 rating.
Those receiving the Mi 11 Ultra will therefore be saving a cool Rs 70,000 (~$943). Meanwhile, the Mi 11X retails for Rs 30,000 (~$404). So it pays to be an individual medalist rather than a team medalist in this case.
