When is the Titans Season 3 release date?

Season 3 of the show will debut on HBO Max starting on August 12, with each of the 13 episodes released on a weekly basis.

What is Titans, anyway?

The series is based loosely on The New Teen Titans DC Comic book originally created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez. The TV series was developed by Akiva Goldsman, Greg Berlanti, and Geoff Johns, the latter of which actually wrote a popular run of the DC Comics Titans comic book.

As with the comic, the TV series centers on Dick Grayson as Robin (played by Brenton Thwaites), who is now fighting crime on his own, apart from his one-time partner and mentor Batman. When the first trailer for the series dropped, it created quite a stir on the Internet as Robin, after taking out a gang of thugs, says, “F*** Batman.”

The series chronicles the formation of a new Titans superhero group after a previous incarnation disbanded before the events of the TV show. Besides Robin, the new Titans group consists of alien solar energy being Koriand’r “Starfire” (Anna Diop), shapeshifter Garfield “Beast Boy” Logan (Ryan Potter), empath Rachel “Raven” Roth (Teagan Croft) , and Donna “Wonder Girl” Troy (Conor Leslie). Other superheroes who join the team include Jason Todd, the next Robin (Curran Walters), along with the duo Hawk and Dove (Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly), and “Connor” a superpowered clone of Superman and Lex Luthor (Joshua Orpin).

The first two seasons show the Titans trying to help Raven fight off her evil demon father Trigon as he attempts to take over the world. The second season saw the team confronting the skilled assassin Deathstroke (Esai Morales), while Dick Grayson fully takes on his new superhero identity of Nightwing. It also showed us a look at an older and retired (as Batman) Bruce Wayne, played by Iain Glen.

Wasn’t the show on another streaming service?

Yes, Titans was the first original live-action series for DC Universe, a streaming service devoted to all things DC Comics. The show ran for two seasons on that service. Due to low subscriber numbers, DC Universe rebranded as a digital comics service called DC Universe Infinite. Most of the shows on that service, including Titans, have now transferred to HBO Max and most are continuing with new episodes.

What’s planned for Titans Season 3?

Based on the recently released trailer, the new season will show the Titans confronting a new and deadly vigilante in Gotham City called the Red Hood. This character might have very close ties to a previous Titans member. We are also introduced to Barbara Gordon, who is now the Gotham City Police Commissioner (Savannah Welch).
