  • Verizon’s cellular and internet services were experiencing a widespread outage.
  • Affected locations included New York City, Philadelphia, Newburgh, Brooklyn, and many more.
  • Verizon seems to have fixed the issue.

Update: August 17, 2021 (7:20 AM ET): It seems Verizon has fixed most of its service issues. The number of reports on Downdetector have gone down significantly. We’re also not seeing many fresh complaints on Twitter.

“Newburgh seeing light spurts (enough for the occasional app notification to get through) but not enough data to load google through a phone browser,” a user reported at 4:30 AM.

“Straight talk on Verizon towers live for mine and my girl’s phones. LTE running strong. Woodbury New York,” says another user.

Multiple other Verizon customers are reporting that the service is back up. Are your Verizon wireless and home internet services working fine? Let us know in the comments below.

Original article: August 17, 2021 (12:36 AM ET): If you’re a Verizon customer and happen to be experiencing issues, you’re not alone. Verizon is not working in many parts of the US.

Affected users have taken Twitter and Downdetector to report problems with both cellular and internet services.

“Completely out in Woodbury. Using straight talk phones with Verizon SIM aka towers,” a user reports. “Nothing in Kingston Hurley,” says another.

Some of the most affected locations include New York City, Philadelphia, Newburgh, Brooklyn, and many more.

The company hasn’t officially acknowledged the problem but Verizon Support on Twitter is directing complaints to the team. It is also asking people to head to this support page for tips on what to do in an outage.
