- Samsung has launched a Golf Edition variant of its Galaxy Watch 4.
- The wearable includes software features to improve golfers’ experience out on the course.
- The model is available in South Korea for ~$255.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series made its debut last month, completely overhauling its existing smartwatch line. Now, there’s a new special edition option for those who spend most of their day standing around on manicured grass.
Announced in South Korea, the Galaxy Watch 4 Golf Edition is the latest addition to the lineup packing a few software niceties for golfers. It’s also the latest Galaxy Watch to take a stroke at the golfing niche after the original Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active 2.
The device’s headlining feature is the Smart Caddie app that provides “distance and shot history of 40,000 golf courses around the world” garnered from raw data. Also included are green undulation information, satellite maps, and “automatic hole information recognition” to assist you on the fairway and in the rough.
Our verdict: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 review
Beyond that, there’s not much to set the Gold Edition apart from the standard Galaxy Watch 4, at least in terms of hardware. You’re still getting the Wear OS 3-powered smartwatch with fitness tracking smarts, built-in GPS, body composition sensor, and Google app support. It’s available in 44mm black and 40mm silver models, while LTE-supported options are also coming down the line.
The Galaxy Watch 4 Gold Edition is only available in South Korea for now, and there’s no word on availability beyond the country just yet. As for pricing, you’re looking at 299,000 won (~$255) for the 40mm option and 329,000 won (~$281) for the 44mm variant. That might save you from caddy hiring costs in the long run, but don’t expect the watch to carry your clubs for you.
