After months of leaks and teasers, Samsung‘s third-generation foldable phone is finally here. But now that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is official, what’s your verdict? Is the foldable hot or not?

Well, there are plenty of reasons to argue “hot.” For starters, Samsung has improved the phone’s durability, slathering Gorilla Glass Victus on its cover display while adding a more durable protective film to the fragile inner screen. An IPX8 water resistance rating features for the first time, too. Samsung’s first under-display camera is now affixed to the phone, giving users an uninterrupted 7.6-inch foldable screen. Multitaskers can also snag the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with one of two S Pens.

However, when viewed from afar, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is an iterative, conservative upgrade over the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The usual flagship specs apply, including the Snapdragon 888 for US buyers, with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Its battery is also slightly smaller than its predecessor too. At the same time, shutterbugs will have to settle for a trio of 12MP cameras at the rear once more. Some could say the new foldable is lukewarm, at best.

Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 still seems the most accomplished and polished foldable available, but starting at $1,799, it remains a steep investment.
