A new study has shown that global foldable smartphone shipments are up 48% year-on-year in Q2 2024. While this might sound like good news for Samsung — as it’s the biggest player in the market — much of the growth is being driven by its competitors.
The findings from Counterpoint laid out that the most significant gains were being made in Latin America, the Asia Pacific region (excluding China, India, and South Korea), and Western Europe. Coming from a lower base than some regions, foldable sales increased by over 450% in Latin America. Sales also went up in the North American region, but it was by a much more modest 14%.
