- Nokia has introduced its first Smart Lighting range in the US.
- The line lets you use your own bulbs, and works even when you don’t have Wi-Fi.
- You can pre-order now starting at $39.99.
Do you like the minimalism and simplicity of Nokia smartphones? There’s now a smart home lineup to match. Nokia (or rather, brand licensee Smartlabs) has launched its first Smart Lighting system in the US.
The Nokia lighting platform centers around a bridge as well as a dial, a paddle switch, a four-button keypad, and a smart outlet. You have your own choice of light bulbs, and can wire it however you like. You also aren’t tied to Wi-Fi — a mix of radio frequency and powerline networking keep your system active and responsive.

You can control Nokia lighting through Android and iOS apps, as well as through Alexa and Google Assistant. Remote control is available if you forget to turn off the lights or need to switch them on before you get home.
The Nokia Smart Lighting range is available for pre-order now at prices starting at $39.99 for the bridge and scaling up to $59.99 for the keypad. Products should start shipping in late September.
This won’t give you Hue-like colored lights or otherwise compete with the most advanced smart bulb setups. However, that’s not really the point — the Nokia system is intended to upgrade your existing lighting and keep the price relatively low. It might be your pick if you’d rather not replace bulbs just to have more control over your home.
