- Google Play Store could soon sport a header that is fixed in place on app listings.
- This header will include key app details, such as the icon, name, developer’s name, average rating, and more. It would also include the Install button.
- This change would make it easier to install the app from any position of the app listing.
Update, March 1, 2025 (5:19 PM ET): Last fall, we spotted Google’s work towards giving the Play Store a floating install button that would persist at the top of your screen when scrolling through even the longest app listings. When you finally made up your mind about whether to install or not, the button would be right there, ready to tap, rather than forcing you to scroll all the way back up — a pretty easy to appreciate quality-of-life improvement.
It’s been a few months now, but we’re finally starting to get reports of this change showing in the Play Store for regular users (thanks: Rob on Discord). We’re not immediately seeing this on our own devices, so Google may be in the process of slowly flipping it on. Be on the lookout for it hitting yours soon.
