- Google has upgraded Google Photos’ Audio Magic Eraser feature on the new Pixel 9 series.
- The feature now also lets you increase the volume of specific audio tracks while editing videos.
- On Pixel 8 series devices, the feature only lets you reduce the volume of audio tracks.
Google Photos got a nifty AI-powered feature with the Pixel 8 series last year that lets you reduce the volume of distracting sounds in videos. Dubbed Audio Magic Eraser, the feature can split the audio track in your videos into distinct layers and lets you decrease the volume of specific layers to remove unwanted noises or make specific sounds stand out. With the new Pixel 9 series, Google has introduced some improvements that make the feature even more impressive.
Although Google did not highlight any changes for the Audio Magic Eraser feature during its Made by Google event earlier this month, we can confirm that it now also lets you increase the volume of specific sounds. As shown in the following screenshots, the volume slider on the Pixel 8 Pro only lets you drop down below 0. Whereas, on the Pixel 9 Pro, it can go up to 100, letting you boost the volume of specific tracks.
