Update: March 5, 2025 (08:25 AM ET): Google has updated the shortcuts in the latest Google app release (version 16.8.31). The duplicate Voice Search and Lens shortcuts in the Search bar have now been replaced with a shortcut for Search’s upcoming AI Mode. This shortcut will remain available in the floating Search bar when you scroll through the Google app home page. Note that this revamped layout with the new shortcuts is not live for end users.
Original article: February 17, 2025 (22:02 PM ET): The Google app could soon get a minor UI change in preparation for the upcoming AI Mode for Google Search. Google appears to be working on offering users a different selection of shortcuts under the Search bar, which includes one for the conversational search experience.
