TL;DR
- Fairphone customers have been receiving repeat copies of old order confirmation emails, with new links within.
- Recipients have been unsure whether this represented a hack of Fairphone order data, or could be a mistake.
- The company now says it’s investigating, but believes it’s likely just an email malfunction.
Update, February 6, 2026 (10:01 AM ET): It’s been a few days since we first heard about the confusing emails Fairphone customers had been getting. The company has continues to look into these reports, and just posted a follow-up message earlier today:
Following our internal check, we can confirm that the unwarranted emails were caused by an internal automation malfunction within our emailing system, as originally suspected. We can assure you that no data breach has occurred.
