  • Asus announced a flurry of new laptops across its ProArt, Zenbook, and Vivobook lines.
  • The upgrades include new AMD and Intel chipsets, OLED screens, and creator-focused additions.
  • The laptops will be available to purchase from Q4 2021, starting at $919.

Asus is rolling out a host of new products this week, from motherboards to projectors. But arguably, the stars of the show are the additions to its laptop lines. The company launched new Vivobook, ProArt, and Zenbook products to its existing bouquets, bringing OLED displays and creator-focused improvements.

Firstly, Asus is adding the ProArt Studiobook Pro 16 OLED to the top step of its roster. As its name suggests, the laptop packs a 16-inch 4K OLED display with HDR and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Asus claims that these are the first 16-inch OLED screens to debut on a laptop and bring 550 nits of peak brightness.

Adding to its creator focus, a new rotary Asus Dial controller positioned top-left of the touchpad gives users more precision in Adobe apps. It currently supports Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

As a workstation, buyers have a choice between the heavy-lifting AMD Ryzen 5000 H-series or third-generation Intel Xeon CPUs. Graphics come courtesy of an Nvidia Quadro RTX A2000 or A5000. The non-Pro variant comes with a Ryzen 5000 H-series CPU or an Intel Core i7 paired with Nvidia RTX 3070 or 3060 GPUs. Up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM can feature on either laptop, as well as Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, HDMI 2.1, and an SD Express 7.0 card reader.

The Asus Studiobook Pro line will be available starting at $1,999. Availability in North America is penned for Q4 2021.

Asus is also bringing the changes to its Zenbook line. Like the ProArt debutants, the refreshed Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED and Zenbook Pro 15 OLED feature 15.6-inch 4K primary OLED displays. The Duo, however, adds the secondary 14-inch tilting ScreenPad Plus for improved multitasking.

The Duo is offered with an Intel Core i9 CPU, a top-choice Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU, and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The Zenbook Pro 15 OLED comes with Ryzen 5000 series CPUs mated to up to 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 3050Ti.

The new Asus Zenbook Pro series starts at $1,469 and will be available beginning Q4 2021 in North America. For those wanting the Duo model, Asus did not provide a suggested price or availability info for this particular model.

Vivobook Pro series

Finally, the Vivobook line is also gaining new features and hardware. The new Vivobook Pro 14X and 16X OLED models arrive with either a 16-inch 4K OLED display or a 14-inch 2.8K OLED. Whichever you choose, Asus claims these are the first laptops to sport VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification. Beyond the screens, users get a choice between Intel’s Core i7 H-series or AMD’s Ryzen 5000 H-series chipsets. Either can be mated to an Nvidia RTX 3050Ti, 32GB of RAM, and a 96Whr battery. For creators, a portion of the touchpad is also occupied by the Dialpad, a touch-version of the hardware Dial used on the ProArt laptops. This should also give regular Adobe users more refined control.

A cheaper body option is in the offering, too. The Vivobook Pro 14 and 15 OLED pack 2.8K or 1080p screens, the same choice of CPUs as its siblings, and an Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU.

Asus is bringing five models of the Vivobook Pro to market. The lowest rung is occupied by the Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, available from $919. The Pro 16X OLED tops the range, starting at $1,399. The Vivobook Pro series will go on sale in North America from Q4 2021.
