Amazon is getting ready for its 2021 hardware showcase and has officially set a date for the event. According to an invite received by The Verge, the event will be next week on September 28, at 12:00 PM ET. As usual, Amazon didn’t go into specifics about what it’s planning to unveil. The invite just included a vague mention of “news about our latest Amazon devices, features, and services.”
Historically, Amazon has used its fall hardware event to show off updated smart speakers, new and improved Ring home security products, and streaming devices. At its event last year, Amazon launched the new Echo, new versions of the Echo Dot, the Eero 6 and 6 Pro Wi-Fi routers, a new Echo Show, and plenty of security products like the Ring Car Cam, Ring Car Alarm, and Ring Always Home Cam. There was also a new Fire Stick 4K and Fire Stick Lite.
One of its biggest announcements last year was the launch of the Amazon Luna game streaming service, intended to compete with the likes of Google Stadia and Microsoft Cloud. Luna is still not open to the public though. So far, only Amazon users in the US are currently allowed to request early access. We might see an update about its game streaming service next week.
Finally, at least one of the potential launch products has already leaked: the Kindle Paperwhite 5. Stay tuned!
