  • Xiaomi has announced the formation of the MIUI Pioneer Team.
  • The team aims to gather feedback and resolve software issues raised by consumers.
  • Xiaomi says the initiative will benefit global users as well.

Xiaomi’s MIUI skin has come a long way since its inception in 2010, starting out as the firm’s first product before it even produced any hardware. Since then, the Android skin has grown to deliver a ton of features, but one recent issue we’ve noted is that it can be extremely inconsistent across devices in terms of polish/bugs.

It looks like Xiaomi could be addressing this as it announced the launch of the MIUI Pioneer Team in China earlier this week. This initiative aims to gather user feedback regarding the Android skin and resolving software issues experienced by consumers.

“We hope that by strengthening online communication with our users, we can gain deeper insights and understanding of those problems to better serve our users,” a Xiaomi representative told Android Authority. The firm also noted that several senior team members are part of the MIUI Pioneer Team, covering aspects like quality assurance, hardware optimization, and more.

MIUI is generally divided into two distinct versions, with one targeting China and another targeting global users. Thankfully, Xiaomi told us that the MIUI Pioneer Team’s work isn’t restricted to the Chinese version.

“This team’s work will be beneficial to global versions of MIUI and will also take global users’ MIUI experience into account. We welcome any form of feedback and will update you once we have more details,” read an emailed response from Xiaomi to Android Authority.

It wouldn’t be the first time we see a smartphone manufacturer launch a software-focused initiative though. LG launched its software upgrade center program back in April 2018, but we thought the firm still left a lot to be desired in our latest update ranking. So hopefully Xiaomi’s new initiative is a more successful endeavor.
