- The OnePlus 9RT will reportedly launch sometime in October.
- The phone, which will be available in China and India, will have some upgrades from the OnePlus 9R.
- It will also reportedly ship with the Android 12-based OxygenOS 12.
While OnePlus presumably won’t be launching any more new high-end phones in the US this year, that apparently won’t be the case in other markets. Android Central has just announced, via unnamed sources, that we can expect the OnePlus 9RT to launch sometime in October.
The new phone will be based on the earlier OnePlus 9R. It will still have a 6.55-inch AMOLED 120Hz display and the same 4,500mAh battery. However, the OnePlus 9RT will have what the article calls a “higher-binned version” of the OnePlus 9R’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor.
The report adds that the OnePlus 9RT will get some camera improvements. It will include the 50MP Sony IMX766 as its main camera versus the 48MP Sony IMX586 camera found on the OnePlus 9R.
However, the most interesting thing about this new phone is that it will reportedly be the first OnePlus device to ship with its OxygenOS 12 out of the box. The Android 12-based OS will have a look similar to Oppo’s ColorOS skin. OxygenOS 12 will also contain some new features, according to the report, including floating windows, a theme store, and privacy additions like Private Safe that will allow users to secure files in a password-protected folder.
There’s no word on a price tag for the OnePlus 9RT, but the OnePlus 9R currently sells for ₹39,999 in India (about $538).
