- Samsung is equipping the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 with the same Snapdragon 888 chip.
- As with past foldables, there won’t be an Exynos option.
- The 888 Plus might not have accomplished much in these devices.
Don’t wonder if your new Samsung foldable phone will come with a Snapdragon or Exynos chip — you won’t have a choice. As SamMobile notes, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 are both available only with a Snapdragon 888 processor inside.
The news isn’t surprising when the company’s past foldables have been Snapdragon-only. Still, this will help settle the question if you were unsure whether you’d get the same processor in your Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Flip 3 as everyone else. It might also prove reassuring — people have complained about lower performance with Exynos-based Samsung phones.

Unlike last year, though, these aren’t souped-up parts. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 are using the same base Snapdragon 888 processor as in the Galaxy S21 family, not the recently introduced 888 Plus. You probably won’t object to the older chip, at least. The 888 Plus’ only real improvements are a slight clock speed jump and AI processing.
We wouldn’t expect this stance on processor selections to carry over to the Galaxy S22 or other future Samsung phones. It does simplify your shopping choices, though, and it’ll ensure a consistent experience wherever you happen to live.
