  • The Neo G9 is now available globally, with the US price tag set at $2,499.99.

Samsung’s latest behemoth of a gaming monitor, the Odyssey Neo G9, is available starting today through online and retail channels. It’s the first time Samsung has brought its Quantum Mini LED technology to its gaming monitors.

The monitor went up for pre-order on July 29 and is globally available starting today. The Neo G9 is a 2021 upgrade to the regular G9 launched last year, with the biggest difference being the switch to Quantum Mini LED from QLED.

It’s the new flagship model in Samsung’s Odyssey lineup, sporting a 49-inch display panel with a super-wide “Dual QHD” resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels. This is essentially like having two 1440p monitors stacked side-to-side.

The upgraded specifications sheet from the 2020 version of the monitor brings in one major change. The Quantum Mini LED panel promises a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. Additionally, the 2,048 local dimming zones are a significant upgrade from the 10 of the original G9. This means the Neo G9 will have much better local dimming. The promised static contrast ratio is 1,000,000:1, with HDR and HDR 10+ support.

Additionally, the monitor goes up to 240Hz, making it a solid choice for PC gamers looking for a top-of-the-line ultra-wide monitor. You get a TÜV Rheinland certified 1000R curved VA panel and a grey-to-grey response time of 1ms. The monitor is G-Sync Compatible, and also has support for FreeSync Premium Pro.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 also has one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two HDMI 2.1 ports with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, two USB ports, and a headphone jack. The monitor has a glossy white exterior, with the front view sporting all the black parts.

The monitor is available for $2,499.99, and you can now get it at Amazon and Best Buy.
