Update, July 11, 2024 (06:56 AM ET): Our report originally speculated that the setting for Gemini within Google Messages would let you turn off Gemini within Messages. We’ve uncovered new evidence that suggests that the setting will merely turn off the floating action button (FAB) for Gemini within Messages. You can see the screenshots below to see the updated language in the settings.
This button is similar to the new “Hide Gemini” toggle in the Gemini conversation, accessible through the three-dot menu, as seen in the third screenshot above. This option also hides the button for Gemini.
