- Motorola has announced an August 5 event in China.
- The Weibo post and teaser image point to flagship phones.
- We’re expecting the Edge 20 family to debut here.
We know that the Motorola Edge 20 series of flagship phones are in the works thanks to leaks and certification listings. What we didn’t know was when exactly the phones would launch, but it looks like we’ve got a date.
Motorola took to Weibo to announce an August 5 press conference in China, set for 7:30 PM Beijing time (7:30 AM ET). Check out the attached image below.
The firm didn’t exactly state that the Edge 20 series would be launched on the day, but the machine-translated Weibo post mentions a focus on the “cutting-edge.” So we can assume that this event isn’t solely devoted to mid-range or budget wares.
Lending more credence to the Edge flagships making an appearance is the teaser image obscuring what seems to be “108MP” branding (as seen above). Earlier leaks show that the Motorola Edge 20 Plus could be equipped with a 108MP main camera.
Other apparent Edge 20 Plus specs include a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED screen, a 4,230mAh battery, and potentially a Snapdragon 870 SoC instead of the higher-end Snapdragon 888 chipset.
Meanwhile, the standard Edge 20 is tipped to offer a Snapdragon 778G processor, the same 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED panel, and a 4,000mAh battery. The vanilla device is also expected to feature a 108MP main camera, 16MP ultra-wide snapper, and 8MP tertiary sensor.
What do you hope to see from the Motorola Edge 20 series? Let us know via the poll above.
