  • Honor just announced the official launch date of the Honor Magic 3 series: August 12, 2021.
  • The invitation hints at a very large camera sensor.
  • Honor previously hinted that a phone in the Magic series would have the Snapdragon 888 chipset, so we can expect this to be that phone.

Honor has already launched its first post-Huawei phones complete with Google apps onboard: the Honor 50 series. However, those phones are mid-rangers with the Snapdragon 778G.

Today, though, we finally got word on when we might see a bonafide premium flagship from Honor. The company sent out invitations for an event on August 12, 2021, in which it specifically calls out the Honor Magic 3 series. This would be the first Magic phone since 2018’s Magic 2.

Check out the invite here:

The image included with the invite is obviously a large camera sensor. It’s reasonable to assume that there will be some premium camera hardware included with Honor Magic 3 phones.

The invitation doesn’t give any other info about the phones. However, the company previously hinted that it would launch a Magic-branded device with “the most premium Qualcomm chipset.” That could be nothing less than the Snapdragon 888 — or even the just-announced Snapdragon 888 Plus. With one of those under the hood and some premium camera gear, the Honor Magic 3 would be a real powerhouse.

We’ll need to wait until August 12 to know anything for sure, but this phone could be the comeback kid Honor needs after breaking away from Huawei.
