- The second-gen Tensor chipset is formally known as Google Tensor G2.
- The first device to launch with this SoC will be the Google Pixel 7 series.
- We’ll get our first taste of Tensor G2 on October 6, 2022.
It was inevitable that Google would launch a second version of Tensor, its first-ever custom system on a chip (SoC). The company even confirmed it was on the way in May this year when it revealed the Pixel 7 series.
However, Google never actually used a formal name for the chipset. That is, until today. As first spotted by 9to5Google, the just-updated Pixel 7 landing page at the Google Store reveals the name of the new SoC: Google Tensor G2.
